LOFT apartment available

Enjoy a modern loft apartment . It really is a great place! Email me for more pictures.

(There are several pics of 1 loft in this blog post. Unfortunately, my camera is not a "good one" and the color turned out badly. The person who lives in the apartment told me that she has gotten many compliments on the color of her walls. The paint color is called "Macadamia." In these shots, though - the walls look boring white. They are definitely not boring. If you'd like to see this loft or the one next door to this one - the actual one that is available, please email me or call. [firesideapts@gmail.com -or (920) 980-2147 ] I'll be getting those pictures tomorrow morning. That unit has paint colors called "Campground" and "Clam Chowder." "Campgroud" is the color used on the wall by the stairway and is a really rich golden mustard color. It, too, is very homey and warm.)

There are 3 lofts (only 1 available at this time) and 8 one-bedroom apartments in this neat building that used to be a fire house. There are columns at the attractive entryway. The entire building was converted in the 1980's to apartments. We purchased the building last year and did extensive remodeling and updating to the interior. Landscaping has begun and will be completed this summer.

It features:

-- Modern decor
-- High end stainless steel refrigerator, stove, and build-in microwave - gorgeous looking!
-- Plenty of cupboard space
--Vertical blinds as part of the modern décor
--Huge loft area (the upper sleeping level) with room for large bed plus lots of other furniture

-- Quiet living
-- Intercom system with locked entrance door and remote system to allow guests to enter.
-- New windows for the entire building, scheduled to be installed May, 2008

-- Terrazzo floors in the bathroom
-- Brushed nickel light fixtures and cabinet hardware
-- Brushed nickel modern kitchen faucet
-- Garbage disposal

-- Quiet living
-- Intercom system with locked entrance door and remote system to allow guests to enter.

-- High efficiency laundry equipment in the building
-- Private storage (that is "walled off" from your neighbor's storage.. no chicken wire)
-- Plenty of off street parking (possibly garages later this summer)

Email or call if you:

1) would like to see more pictures

2) have any questions, or

3) want to see the lofts

Early October update

Hi. Because this web-site is really a blog and the most recent updates are stored at the top - if you're here for the first time, then please go to the bottom to get to the oldest post and read more general information about the Fireside.

Well, I have one more lease to sign and then there will be 10 of the 12 apartment homes "taken." One of the two is a one-bedroom. It features it's own private entry door to the exterior of the building. The other is a large studio apartment.

Six units are occupied and the other four that are rented will be occupied by early November. We are quite busy getting the work done to make them just beautiful. Two of them will have all ceramic tile flooring. One is a loft that will have red tile in the living room and carpet in the loft. I'm real excited to see these units get finished.

Flooring decisions

(Please read the posts below for a picture of the building, general information about the apartments, and a little progress report.)

When we first began the rehab, we thought we'd have a couple of units with original firehouse tile/brick floor, a couple of units with hardwood floors, and the rest were ones that we thought we'd for forced to have carpeting in. Although there were some units that had partial hardwood flooring, part of the floor was cement from when they remodeled the building from being a firehouse into apartments, so the previous owner just covered those completely with carpeting.

The good news is that instead of "having" to have carpet in those units, we've decided to:
1) put in brand new hardwood flooring
2) install beautiful ceramic tile
3) maybe do carpeting in select areas, depending on the desires of our new residents
4) consider other options?

If you select an apartment home that does not have the flooring completed yet, we'd love to have your opinion on what type of flooring to install.

Besides the apartment homes rented in the past 2 weeks, there are 2 more now that will be ready to move in soon. Please call for a showing.

PS The exterior work has been put on hold for a couple weeks since we want to finish the apartments that have been promised to new residents.

Units Rented

I apologize for not updating this blog sooner - but things have been quite busy with trying to get people's apartments ready. Three loft apartments have been taken and the first person will move in this weekend. The unit with the hardwood floors that were just refinished in both the living room and bedroom has also been taken. There is one more unit that has hardwood floors in the living room and new carpet in the bedroom. It's gorgeous and has a lot of sunlight. This unit is temporarily taken, because although the person loved it, she has chosen to move to a loft unit when one can be finished for her.

Landscaping didn't get going as much as we expected due to all the rain last week. Also, we want to have more efforts put to the inside work first.

Please write or call with any questions you have. We'll continue with refurbishing!

Welcome to Fireside Homes

There is a demand in Sheboygan for quality in an apartment home - yet be able to do so at an affordable price.

We are Fireside Homes, LLC. In July, we purchased a beautiful brick building in Sheboygan that we began renovating. (The picture shown is the "BEFORE" picture. There are 8 one-bedroom unique apartment homes, 3 spacious lofts, and 1 huge studio apartment. Although the 3 lofts are a lot like each other, the other apartments are all unique in their layout.

The apartment homes are (or will be) all tastefully decorated with:

  • Stainless Steel Appliances
  • Modern Brushed Nickel Faucets in the Kitchens
  • Vertical Blinds (what a nice change!) for the windows
  • Three different color schemes to choose from with attractive warm paint colors throughout
  • Terrazzo floors in the bathrooms
  • Kohler faucets on bathroom sinks

Flooring options include the following
  • Hardwood Floors that were just sanded and refinished
  • Brand New Carpeting
  • Some have both hardwood and carpeting
  • At least two of the units will have part of the flooring be the neatest red brick (kind of like tile) from the days the building served as a real firehouse
Laundry will be on-site. Also, your storage area will be private - NOT made with "chicken wire" like is often seen; each storage closet has a real door and actual walls separating it from the other storage closets.

The homes will be a must see. You'll also find nice lighting with brushed nickel light fixtures. On the exterior, we'll be re-landscaping. Work will begin at the end of this week . I'll put pictures up when it starts so you can see before, during, and after shots. (The above shot is the exterior BEFORE any new landscaping.)

Call to find out when they will be ready for move-in...it will be very soon
